Background:
The Mid-West Regional Authority published the first Regional Planning Guidelines for the Mid-West Region in 2004.  The Guidelines provided a development framework for the region to the year 2016. 

In accordance with the Planning & Development Act 2000, these Guidelines must be reviewed every 6 years. The RPGs set out the regional development strategy and RPGs for the Mid-West Region of Clare, Limerick City and County and North Tipperary, within the framework of the government’s National Spatial Strategy and other national, regional and local strategies.  

In accordance with the requirements of Section 7 (1), (3) and (4) of the Planning and Development (Regional Planning Guidelines) Regulations 2009 and the Planning & Development (Amendment) Act 2010, the Mid-West Regional Authority has undertaken a review of the Economic Strategy and Planning Guidelines for the Mid-West Region.

The Mid-West Regional Planning Guidelines 2010-2022 were adopted at the September 2010 Monthly Meeting of the Regional Authority and are now on public display.  Click here for more details.
