Latest News on Mid-West Regional Economic Strategy & Planning Guidelines

Introduction
The Mid-West Regional Authority published the first regional planning guidelines for the region in 2004.  The Guidelines provide a development framework for the region to the year 2016. 

In accordance with the Planning & Development Act 2000, these Guidelines must be reviewed every 6 years. The RPG’s set out the regional development strategy and RPG’s for the Mid-West Region of Clare, Limerick City and County and North Tipperary, within the framework of the government’s National Spatial Strategy and other national, regional and local strategies.

n accordance with the requirements of Section 7 (1), (3) and (4) of the Planning and Development (Regional Planning Guidelines) Regulations 2009, the Mid-West Regional Authority is currently reviewing the Economic Strategy and Planning Guidelines for the Mid-West Region.

In May 2009 the Director of the Regional Authority prepared a report on all the submissions received.  This was brought before the Members of the Regional Authority on Tuesday 5th May 2009.  To view the Director's Report please click here.

The Director has now been directed by the Members to prepare the Draft Regional Economic Strategy & Planning Guidelines. In accordance with the statutory process, the Draft Strategy and Guidelines will be available in October 2009.
