County/City Development Plans
A County Development Plan sets out an overall strategy for the proper planning and sustainable development of the County. The legal basis for the plan is set out in the Planning and Development Act 2000 & the Planning & Development (Amendment) Act, 2010. In the making of the Plan the Council is required to carryout:
- Widespread Public Consultation
- Adhere to strick timeframes
- Ensure consistency with other plans
- Be consistent with Regional Planning Guidelines
The primary goals and objectives of Development Plans is to guide development of the City/County over the coming years, so as to promote sustainable and orderly development.
Limerick City Council
Limerick City Development Plan 2010-2016
The Limerick City Development Plan sets out Limerick City Council’s policies for the development of Limerick City to 2016 and beyond. It has been developed following a period of intensive consultation which took the form of public meetings, meetings with stakeholders and service providers, written submissions and workshops for Elected Representatives

Limerick County Council
Limerick County Development Plan was formally made on 1st November 2010. It was prepared over a two year period in accordance with the steps set out in the Planning & Development Act, 2000.
It is a six-year development plan for the county that sets out, as concisely as possible, Limerick County Council’s planning policy for the county for that period. Subject to any interim variations that might be made by the Council, the plan will remain in force until 2016.

Clare County Council
County Clare’s Development Plan covers from the period of its adoption in 2011 and, in accordance with the Act, will be valid for six years from the date of adoption by Clare County Council, subject to any review, variations or extensions or alterations made in the future.

North Tipperary County Council
North Tipperary County Development Plan 2010 –2016 was made in accordance with the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended).
The County Development Plan for North Tipperary was made on 19th July 2010. This Development Plan sets out the council's proposals for the development and use of land within North Tipperary from 2010-2016 and beyond.
