About the Mid-West Regional Authority

The Mid-West Regional Authority (MWRA) was established with effect from 1st January 1994 under the provisions of the Local Government Act, 1991 (Regional Authorities) (Establishment) Order, 1993. This Establishment Order was made by the Minister for the Environment with the consent of the Minister for Finance under Sections 3 and 43 of the Local Government Act, 1991. The MWRA is one of eight regional authorities in Ireland.
The Mid-West Regional Authority promotes the coordination of public services within the administrative areas of:
- Clare County Council
- Limerick County Council
- Limerick City Council
- North Tipperary County Council
